My mother and I stand on either side of a chiffon membrane. Over three hours, we sew ourselves together with our hair. In this act, I thread a strand of my hair through the needle and pass it through the membrane to her. She knots a strand of her hair to mine and then repeats the act, a web of hair giving form to the connections and boundaries between us. Mirroring when we were joined before, the umbilical cord between us. Our shared DNA in each strand, part of our bodies, but separate.

My sister’s body holds the accumulative weight of three hundred felted stones. Each stone knotted to a thread which is sewn to her shirt, hundreds of taut lines spanning the space. Her body sits upright, leaning back to take the weight. As dusk settles, she snaps the threads. With each break, a weight releases, falling to the ground with an echoing thud. When the last one breaks, she walks from the space

Every Thread is a two-room installation. A transparent membrane spans each doorway. One chairs sits in each room with hundreds of threads connecting them across the membrane.

2016, yarn

Loom was created around the generator in a former powerplant. Thousands of pieces of yarn follow the forms and lines created by the former generator.

2014, watercolor, gold leaf, charcoal, and found objects

goldleaf, watercolors, and charcoal are used to follow the lines and patterns created by years of water-damage.

2017, screen-printed tracing paper

hundreds of screen printed leaves are sewn to a tree in winter, replacing those that fell.

2015, cheesecloth, thread

Shrouded is an installation created inside a former industrial building in South Bend, IN. The work was created using light, cheesecloth, wood, and found objects. The space it was installed in is over 60 feet long with large pools of standing water throughout.
